Lesson 1 - Believing in...

Well, this is my first shot at blogging and I truly have no idea how it will turn out. The thing is I was sitting at home thinking one day about something I could give back. Don’t get me wrong I am an enlisted Air National Guardsman. I go to church on Sundays. I make a religious donation anytime I am paid. I am a youth leader in my church, and I am an assistant scoutmaster. On top of all that I am a College Enrollment Counselor who does his best at helping people to understand that school is not impossible. It WILL absolutely benefit you, if nothing else it will give you a self-esteem boost and it is never too expensive. Most schools can be paid for with Federal Funding.

After thinking about all of those things I thought about my family. I have two kids, a toddler and a moderate infant, and a beautiful wife. No matter what she may think, I will always find her absolutely gorgeous and wonderful, despite my own flaws. I thought, well I am a pretty good husband and father right? I help out around the house, I try to squeeze out some romance, I am being serious because I am willing to admit that in my mind about 85% of all guys…it’s a big deal to be truly romantic the way a wife wants romance.

To quote my wife: ‘So, there I was…’ thinking of what I could do. I don’t know a whole lot about politics, I am still quite young at 26, and I haven’t yet finished my degree. (I know, I work for a college and want to help people earn a degree and I don’t even have mine yet, I’m not perfect…and I’ll never claim it)

But I thought what if I just sat down and started typing things out? What if somebody out there can take something from a little bit about what I have experienced in life? I am just the average American Dad/Husband/Father/Man who is willing to sit down and dish it out the way he really feels about it. ‘It’ being common sense, ‘It’ being the economic pressure everybody in the country is facing, ‘It’ being the wars of today, ‘It’ being life in general.

‘It’ is always gonna have some new twist or turn for you to endure. I for one turn to God and Jesus Christ when ‘It’ throws me a curve. Not everybody does that, some people turn to friends, others family. Frankly I don’t care who you call God, or your support group, or your friends. What I do care about as an everyday person is if you have friends, or a support group. Do you have something, anything to believe in? Is it your TV, your job, a girl/guy, your Playstation, maybe fishing? (a lot of people out there just started laughing at fishing) In most cases anything is better than nothing.

Just think about that for a second, what drives you to get up out of bed…no even more basic, what compels you to open your lungs and breathe each day? If anything just came to mind then you have a belief, if not…better have somebody call 911 because by the time you finish reading this it will probably have been a good while and that big gray mass behind your eyes is starving for O2. (that’s oxygen for the people who never made it past third grade)

I guess that’s what this all comes down to for post numero uno. Something to believe in, because we all got to start somewhere.

  1. Why is fishing so funny?

Fishing is a true Religion. Fish manifest themselves to me all the time.

    Love,
